Transition from Rural producer to future urban consumer

The transition centers around improving the efficiency of resource use in food processing across whole food supply chains as it is an essential component of getting food to more people using decreased inputs. The reduction of GHG emissions, water use and food waste will be essential and the integration of smarter design and logistical planning in supply chains is required to do this.

The food security situation for a projected global population of 8-9 billion people in 2050 will demand the production of more food using even lower energy inputs within current land use limits food processors and manufacturers must become more aware of the whole food system and supply chains as a whole, so much so that it will be a requirement since consumers are changing their lifestyles, expectations and demand for specific foods
