Topic 2.2: Food Supply Chain Introduction

A food supply chain or food system refers to the processes that describe how food from a farm ends up on our tables.

The processes include

  • Raw materials (production)
  • Processing
  • Packaging
  • Transportation (distribution)
  • Market (consumption)
  • Disposal

Food Supply chains are interconnected and if one part is affected, this might reflect in other sections of the chain. These changes usually affect prices of the goods.
