Local food issues

Issues regarding the trading of local food are diverse and can include:

  • Size of the agricultural enterprise. According to Maxey et al. (2011) holdings of approximately 4 ha can be used as sustainable and economically viable land
  • Barriers due to high prices for properties
  • Commitment and willingness to hard working days
  • Need for a long-term perspective, patience and creative thinking
  • Economical need for trading on more than one food supply chain (mix of local trading and LFSC)
