Food waste

Most waste in the farm-to-fork chain stems from the reluctance to purchase or consume visually imperfect produce, such as those with odd shapes, colors, or minor imperfections, even if they remain perfectly fine for consumption until their best-before date. Consequently, these perfectly edible products are often discarded or repurposed into lower-value items instead of being bought and consumed.

Sustainable supply chains, concerning food waste, aim to heavily inform the consumer through messages on packaging and consumer awareness.
