Topic 4: Groups of people with special dietary requirements

The objectives of this topic 4 are:

  • To present the main characteristics and nutrient requirements of children, pregnant & lactating women and older adults.
  • To present how the nutrient requirements of the above groups of population can be considered in food aid using examples from health organisations.
  • To briefly present dietary considerations of people with common food allergies or of those who follow a special diet (e.g., vegan).
