Social stores in Poland

From this short video, you will learn what a social store is, who visits stores, and how you buy products there. The first social store run by the Food Bank was established in Poland in 2017 in the Tri-City. The store serves several purposes: it allows for more sustainable food aid, empowers people who visit the store, and helps reduce food waste. At the film’s end, we provide some tips for organizations running or planning to set up a community store, what else is worth knowing before opening one, and what other initiatives can be combined with running a store.

The social impact of food support

The Social Canteen is a social response, part of the Solidarity Network of Social Canteens (Rede Solidária das Cantinas Sociais), within the scope of the Emergency Food Programme (Programa de Emergência Alimentar). The main objective is to meet the food needs of people and families in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability or other situations of social fragility. Cáritas Coimbra serves a higher number of meals a day, during all days of the week, in the context of food support. Find out more about this topic in the next video.
